Taos Today
Taos New Mexico is located north of Santa Fe and Albuquerque. Taos is an Indian Pueblo, a Spanish village, a ski resort and like the rest of New Mexico offers great art. Visitors find endless skiing, rafting and year-round outdoor adventure. Tall mountains, high mesa desert and the Rio Grande Gorge are the areas attractions.
Mountain bike trails follows the scenic Rio Grande Gorge. Rock climbing and rafting are very popular summer sports. There are 2 golf courses in the Taos area. Hiking, horseback riding and flyfishing are great ways to spend the day.
The Taos mountains provide for great skiing during winter. Snowshoe and cross country ski enthusiasts enjoy the trails and meadows in Carson National Forest and the Enchanted Forest Cross Country Ski Area. Take a guided snowmobile trip through the valleys and mountains.
Beginners or expert skiers are welcome at Taos, Red River, Sipapu, Ski Santa Fe and Angel Fire, all ski areas in northern New Mexico near the border with Colorado.
Taos Ski Valley has a steep mountain. The mountain is great for experienced skiers. Snowboards are not allowed. Taos Ski Valley is in the hands of the Blake Family. Condominiums are in the surrounding area of Taos Ski Valley.
